What to Expect
New possibilities are just a few simple steps away. From first call to surgery to rehabilitation, here is what you can expect.
Candidacy and contact
Beginning the process is simple. You can either fill out our online evaluation form to determine your candidacy, or just call us to get started.
In-person surgical evaluation
Once your initial screening has been completed over the phone, you will visit a surgery center for an in-person vision evaluation. A qualified medical professional will confirm your eligibility for the procedure and whether you are a good fit for the implant.
With your eligibility approved, insurance specialists will work with your physician and health plan to secure approval for your Argus II therapy.
Having set a date for the procedure, you will return to the surgical center to have the Argus II device surgically implanted under general anesthesia. The procedure lasts only a few hours and is routine, with minimal post-operative discomfort.
After about four weeks of healing, you will return to the clinic where you will receive your glasses and video processor. The system will then be “activated” and programmed to your preferences.
Following activation, a vision rehabilitation professional, who has extensive training and certifications in low vision rehabilitation, will work with you to create an individualized plan, including personalized exercises, to help you achieve your goals for your new vision.
